For the Pizza Dough:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Pizza Sauce:
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Toppings:
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (red and green)
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup sliced red onion
- 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup sliced cooked Italian sausage
- 1/4 cup sliced green olives (optional)
- 1/4 cup sliced cooked bacon (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish (optional)
- Crushed red pepper flakes for added heat (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pizza Dough:
- In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
2. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
3. Roll out the Dough:
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to a 12-inch (30 cm) circle or your desired pizza size.
4. Prepare the Pizza Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
5. Assemble the Pizza:
- Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Add your desired toppings, including pepperoni, bell peppers, black olives, red onion, mushrooms, Italian sausage, and any other optional ingredients.
6. Bake:
- Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown, and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
7. Garnish and Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Optionally, garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes.
- Slice and serve your Supreme Homemade Pizza.
