Ingredients:
For the Ahi Tuna:
- 4 Ahi tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for searing)
For the Mango Salsa:
- 1 ripe mango, diced
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Ahi Tuna:
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, honey, black sesame seeds (if using), salt, and black pepper. Place the Ahi tuna steaks in the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
2. Prepare the Mango Salsa:
- In a separate bowl, combine diced mango, red onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
3. Sear the Ahi Tuna:
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or pan over high heat. Remove the Ahi tuna steaks from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side for a rare to medium-rare doneness. Adjust the time based on your preference.
4. Slice the Ahi Tuna:
- Remove the seared Ahi tuna from the pan and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna into thin, even slices.
5. Plate and Serve:
- Arrange the sliced Ahi tuna on serving plates. Top with generous spoonfuls of mango salsa.
6. Garnish:
- Garnish with additional cilantro and lime wedges if desired.
7. Enjoy:
- Serve the Seared Ahi Tuna with Mango Salsa immediately. Enjoy this vibrant and flavorful dish!
